Hogar San Mateo: 20 years dedicated to minors

From our ten-seater home, we deal comprehensively with the care and development of minors at risk of social exclusion.

Children who are victims of abuse, abandonment (physical and emotional), of socioeconomic inequality, who have to benefit from a protection measure by the General Directorate of Children, Family and Birth.

We pretend

Temporarily welcome children at risk to avoid the consequences that derive from it.

Accompany the child in their personal development, relying on prior knowledge of their personal and family situation, in a warm, welcoming and affectionate environment.

Educate or reinforce the child in the development of habits related to daily life and their needs: health, hygiene, nutrition, sleep.

Educate the child in the values necessary for daily coexistence: group life, dialogue, respect, collaboration, tolerance ...

Accompany the families in this process to overcome the problems that this situation has generated.

Work in coordination with Social Services and with the DDIFN mainly and with all the resources available in the environment.

How do we do it?

From the bond, childhood is the moment when we humans create society, culture, we learn to respect ourselves and the other, it is the moment to find and know the world where later we have to move. Trust, affection, opportunity is essential to develop as independent people with a critical capacity to contribute to our society.

In addition, coordinating with other institutions, we work with families for their possible reunification.

And in collaboration with other organizations, in the process of emancipation of the boys and girls, protected by the Community of Madrid, who upon turning eighteen cannot return to their family and, therefore, begin adult life with certain guarantees.
